The Latter-day Saints branch of the Christian church has been around for 170 years.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is most commonly known as the Mormon
Church. However, the term Mormon is incorrect; it is actually Church of Jesus Christ
Latter-day Saints. Latter-day Saints are actually encouraged not to use the term
Mormon. It is a different name. People are often confused by the term thinking that we

A small amount of background is needed to establish the origin of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. The beginning of this religion is usually associated with the

word of God. Latter-day Saints claim that the Church fell away from the apostolic
teachings of Christ and that the re-establishment of the Church depended upon the
revelations of Joseph Smith.

Book of Mormon is a collection of writings by prophets. It is named after the Mormon

Smith dramatic license to tamper with the gospel of Christ.
Some prophets and critics of the Latter-day Saints have quoted on the issue of God
being the same as human. Joseph Smith said, God himself was once as we are now and
is an exalted man and sits, enthroned by yonder heavens (qtd. in Hinckly 1)! President
Woodruff of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims, God is increasing in
knowledge and power, and dominion and will do so until the world ends (qtd in Hinckly
). In relation to these types of statements Gary F. Zoella elaborates, According to
Mormonism the difference in God and human beings is only of degree, not of kind. He
has simply progressed further than we have ( Zoella 1). Smith goes on to say

of God and to know that he was once a man like us; yea that
God himself, the father of us all, died on earth the same as his
son, Jesus Christ himself did and I will show it from the Bible…
our father in heaven is a personage of tabernacle, just as I am…
and He has all of the parts and passions of a perfect man, and his
body is composed of flesh and bones, but not of blood (qtd in Hinckly 15).
Gary F. Zoella also claims that the Book of Mormon is false doctrine and therefore,
abomination. His theory is ironically proved by Smiths quote when he says that he can
prove, by means of the Holy Bible, that God came to earth just as his son, Christ.
However, there is no documentation in the Holy Bible indicating that God came to earth
just as his son.
It is also important to discuss women in Priesthood. In Christianity, it is taught that
the male is the head of the household and, thus, should lead the congregation of the
Church in worship. Latter-day Saints seem to believe this rule to some extent. Most
Latter-day Saint worship services are led by men, but there is a worldwide organization
set up strictly for women to lead a service, which is called the Relief Society. This
organization was established as a better way for women to serve in the Church. This
organization focuses on women from age 1 to age 18. (Alexander )

be supported by the Holy Bible, which is the only word of God according to all
Christians. The Book of Mormon is considered false by all Christians, because it is

not bear false witness against thy neighbor. This passage indicates that any
falseness dealing with witness is abhorrence, thus the Book of Mormon is abomination.
