When Mr. Summers arrives with the black box the villagers do not show any sort of emotions to make the reader believe that they are happy to see Mr. Summers arrive with the box. In many forms of literature the color black tends to symbolize death, the black box may give the reader the idea that something bad will occur. Jackson mentions that a list had to be made for the head of each family in the village and the members of each household in each family (Jackson 56). Everyone in the village had to participate in the drawing of the lottery. Just before Mr. Summers turned to the assembled villagers, Mrs. Hutchinson hurried along to the path to the square (Jackson 56). Jackson makes it look as if Mrs. Hutchinson, although late really wants to be there. One by one the heads of the families goes up to the black box an pick out a folded paper (Jackson 58). After everyone has gone up the reader is left wondering who got it, “who is it, who got it?” (Jackson 5). The plot takes true form when the reader finds out who got it, “it’s Hutchinson. Beauty and the Beast, Walt Disney’s 11 instant classic, I consider the finest animated movie ever made, deserving a prominent position on my list of all-time greats. I always knew that Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite movies, but not until recently my conscience discovered the fondness for this movie. Irresistible appears to be an apt description of this film because every frame is imbued with an exceptional magic for any motion picture, animated or otherwise.
As a child Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella contributed to be my favorite movies, but I guess Beauty and the Beast definitely changed my opinion. On the contrary, now it has become a ritual or a passion to watch every weekend with my niece, bringing hilarity for my peers. My friends laughed and told me about my impulse for this movie. For some reason, I did not take their joke seriously at first until I realized how many times I have watched it with my niece.
I remember this one time my friend, Alicia, having a guy problem. Her boyfriend, Jamie, often acted “high and mighty”, and Ali (Alicia) did not like that attitude a tad. She told me how her boyfriend mistreated one of her friends because her monetary status did not match with Jamie’s or Ali’s. At that point, Jamie reminded me of the Beast, once a conceited young prince who turned away a beggar woman who came to his door for shelter from the storm. In return the beggar woman who turned out to be a beautiful enchantress placed a spell on the castle, and only when the prince learned to love and be loved the curse would break. When I correlated the Beast with Jamie, Alicia chuckled saying something about my itch for this movie which in reality made me ponder on her mock. Even though Alicia was not the only person to spot the remarks that I somehow relate to this movie, the thought of my obsession remained indigestible. Does relating little incidents with film’s concept in our life mean obsession with the movie?
After that, for the last two years, for the Halloween dinner, I have been making my niece dress like Belle, the main character of the story. Consequently, last year her mother, apparently my sister, instantly said, “Ah, Belle from Beauty and the Beast must be your aunt Shivangi.” Right that minute I realized that maybe I do have a little craze for this movie. Apart from the Halloween excuse, even the screen saver on my personal computer is of Belle and the beast downloaded straight from the Disney website, “supposedly” for my niece’s love for that movie. This brings to my attention that I used my niece simply as a scapegoat to hide my passion for this film.
What makes this brilliant movie different? Why do I love watching it over and over again? Well this film seems different from those usual fairy tales where the prince rescues the princess, and they fall in love with each other. In this motion picture, Marian Belle, the main character of the narrative, lived with her father- a nutty inventor. Hence, that gave the town people the idea of Belle being a little out of the ordinary. Her name means beauty, and it is revealed by her magnificent appearance throughout the duration of the movie. Gaston, the dignified warrior of the town, wanted by every girl, displays true love for Belle. Surprisingly, Belle sees right through his beauty and recognizes him as an unkind and conceited fool who does not know how to love.
Meanwhile, when Belle’s father is locked in the dungeon by the hideous beast in his castle, Belle agrees to be a prisoner instead for the rest of her life. This shows the family values in her character, again teaching us the most important aspect of life love. Further in the movie, Belle resides in the castle with no fear for the beast. She teaches him how to eat, live, act, and read like human beings which results in love between them. At first Belle does not realize about the feelings developed in her heart for the beast, but the gruesome monster shows his love for Belle by releasing her from his imprisonment to go help her father. In the end, when the last petal of the rose given by the enchantress is about to fall, Belle confesses her love for the beast breaking the spell on the castle. This closure shows that love can convert an evil and unkind man into a generous loveable individual.
My favorite characters in this movie consist of the three playful servants of the prince. Lumiere, the castle maitre d’, turned into a candlestick after the curse; Mrs. Potts, the housekeeper, changed into a teapot along with her fun-loving son Chip, turned into a teacup; and last but not the least, Cogsworth was the castle’s butler changed into a clock. Mrs. Potts guided the enchanted beast on how to talk and deal with Belle’s emotions, thoroughly aware of the consequences if anything went wrong. Lumiere and Cogsworth always fought on silly comments each had and not failing to serve their master by guiding him how to impress Belle. In my opinion, these three characters played a vital role and contributed equally in their love story.
This animated motion picture has various special editions, too. For instance, Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas, an insertion into the story is about Belle deciding to organize a secret Christmas Eve party without the permission of the beast and how Belle’s love makes the master change his opinion about Christmas. Along with this, a recently released special edition of Beauty and the Beast Belle’s Magical World is a full-length movie that brims with delightful stories and songs, and all my favorite characters and voice cast from the acclaimed and beloved movie masterpiece. From these versions, I discovered how true friendship and cooperation can turn a gloomy castle into an enchanted palace fit for a Princess like Belle. When I went to see these movies, I was amazed to know that I am not the only fan of Belle and the Beast.
After all these facts I honestly confess that, yes, I am a fan of Disney’s movie Beauty and the Beast. When I relate day to day conversations of my life with this movie, it just tells me what important place it occupies in my heart and mind. But nothing can now change my craze for this intriguing movie. I am sure from this moment my niece will not be used as an excuse to hide my obsession for this movie, and I will continue to watch this family movie. In fact, I plan to go buy the other two additional versions of the film for myself and not just for my six year old niece. According to my standpoint, this romantic tale teaches us that love can change ones attitude and conveys a significant message that inner beauty has more important than physical appearances for true love.
This ageless tale proves to be a family feature that someone over the age of eighteen can venture into without an accompanying child. I unquestionably find this movie irresistible and certainly continue watching it repeatedly.

On the contrary, now it has become a ritual or a passion to watch every weekend with my niece, bringing hilarity for my peers. My friends laughed and told me about my impulse for this movie. For some reason, I did not take their joke seriously at first until I realized how many times I have watched it with my niece.
I remember this one time my friend, Alicia, having a guy problem. Her boyfriend, Jamie, often acted “high and mighty”, and Ali (Alicia) did not like that attitude a tad. She told me how her boyfriend mistreated one of her friends because her monetary status did not match with Jamie’s or Ali’s. At that point, Jamie reminded me of the Beast, once a conceited young prince who turned away a beggar woman who came to his door for shelter from the storm. In return the beggar woman who turned out to be a beautiful enchantress placed a spell on the castle, and only when the prince learned to love and be loved the curse would break. When I correlated the Beast with Jamie, Alicia chuckled saying something about my itch for this movie which in reality made me ponder on her mock. Even though Alicia was not the only person to spot the remarks that I somehow relate to this movie, the thought of my obsession remained indigestible. Does relating little incidents with film’s concept in our life mean obsession with the movie?
After that, for the last two years, for the Halloween dinner, I have been making my niece dress like Belle, the main character of the story. Well this film seems different from those usual fairy tales where the prince rescues the princess, and they fall in love with each other. In this motion picture, Marian Belle, the main character of the narrative, lived with her father- a nutty inventor. Hence, that gave the town people the idea of Belle being a little out of the ordinary. Her name means beauty, and it is revealed by her magnificent appearance throughout the duration of the movie. Gaston, the dignified warrior of the town, wanted by every girl, displays true love for Belle. Surprisingly, Belle sees right through his beauty and recognizes him as an unkind and conceited fool who does not know how to love.
Meanwhile, when Belle’s father is locked in the dungeon by the hideous beast in his castle, Belle agrees to be a prisoner instead for the rest of her life. This shows the family values in her character, again teaching us the most important aspect of life love. Further in the movie, Belle resides in the castle with no fear for the beast. She teaches him how to eat, live, act, and read like human beings which results in love between them. At first Belle does not realize about the feelings developed in her heart for the beast, but the gruesome monster shows his love for Belle by releasing her from his imprisonment to go help her father. In the end, when the last petal of the rose given by the enchantress is about to fall, Belle confesses her love for the beast breaking the spell on the castle. This closure shows that love can convert an evil and unkind man into a generous loveable individual.
My favorite characters in this movie consist of the three playful servants of the prince. Lumiere, the castle maitre d’, turned into a candlestick after the curse; Mrs. Potts, the housekeeper, changed into a teapot along with her fun-loving son Chip, turned into a teacup; and last but not the least, Cogsworth was the castle’s butler changed into a clock. Mrs. Potts guided the enchanted beast on how to talk and deal with Belle’s emotions, thoroughly aware of the consequences if anything went wrong. Lumiere and Cogsworth always fought on silly comments each had and not failing to serve their master by guiding him how to impress Belle. In my opinion, these three characters played a vital role and contributed equally in their love story.
This animated motion picture has various special editions, too. For instance, Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas, an insertion into the story is about Belle deciding to organize a secret Christmas Eve party without the permission of the beast and how Belle’s love makes the master change his opinion about Christmas. Along with this, a recently released special edition of Beauty and the Beast Belle’s Magical World is a full-length movie that brims with delightful stories and songs, and all my favorite characters and voice cast from the acclaimed and beloved movie masterpiece. The island it self is only accessible by boat, helicopter, or seaplane, however it is one of the more populated islands in the region. I myself spent much of my early- mid childhood going to the island; my father would take my family there on our boat just about every weekend. The funny thing is that this painting was finished in the year 11, which is a whole lifetime (70 years) before I was born, and going by his painting I could swear that the place has not changed at all. The painting depicts the beautiful bay that is the main entry point to the island; Miharakis did a beautiful job in painting the local environment, as well as a very large number of people (probably exaggerated).
In this piece Miharakis uses many “tricks” to lure the viewer into this environment. When you first look at this work your eye is automatically pried to the top right corner, because of the bright yellow color that he uses for his leafs. Then your eye is taken back toward the left along the upper most tree line, and then back down the left side. All the while she’s put all kinds of gorgeous plant life, mixed with some houses in the background. When your eyes finally come across the bottom part of the painting, that’s when you realize that no matter what happened in the past, at this moment the people pictured in this piece, are genuinely happy, and full of life, it really makes you want to be there, on that day with those people.
This painting not very balanced, for you have lot more things going on in the upper part of the painting then on the bottom, such as most of the people, all the foliage, the houses, and some wildlife Were as the bottom of the painting, consists mostly of lighter colors, with the water, as well as some people. Illhia Paqueta is not a painting of what an ideal person would look like, but of what an ideal day would look like, because the people are really just part of the back ground. Colonel Prescott, of the Continental Army allegedly issued the famous order, ”Don’t one of you fire until you see the white’s of their eyes.” The Americans allowed the British to advance almost to the bases of the fortifications and then opened fire. General Howe led two costly and ineffective charges against the American’s fortifications but failed to inflict serous casualties. After obtaining two hundred reinforcements, which included greatly needed ammunition for his artillery, Howe ordered a bayonet charge to seize Breed’s Hill. In his third attempt, the British were finally able to force the Americans, who were out of gunpowder, to retreat back to the mainland. In the course of the engagement, Charlestown was set on fire by British shells and burned to the ground.
This battle, though victorious, proved costly for the British. Of the twenty-four hundred British soldiers in Howe’s command, one thousand and fifty-four died. This accounted for nearly forty percent of their ranks. The American casualties were four hundred and forty-one, including thirty captured. The battle served to prove to the American people that the British Army was not invincible. It became a symbol of national pride and a rally point of resistance against British rule.
The effect of this battle was to electrify both sides of the Atlantic. The Yankee farmers had held their ground. They had been defeated, not by the professional soldiers drawn up against them, but by a lack of ammunition. Throughout the colonies, Americans began to believe that independence from Britain was not only desirable but possible. The official British report of the battle arrived almost two weeks after the American version and was, by comparison, so dull that almost no one paid any attention to it. Gage was called home in disgrace, leaving Howe in command.

The bathroom had nothing except for a small sink. On the second floor there is another flight of stairs, which brings up to the where the Van Daans lived. It was a very spacious room, which was very bright, compared to down stairs. It contained a sink and a gas cooker. This room was made into the kitchen and bedroom for Mr and Mrs Van Daan. It was also for generally use for a living-area, dinning room and study for all the members of the Annex. The third floor also had a small room for the son of Mr and Mrs Van Daan, Peter. Toward the front of the building it had a large attic. Along with the small living area for the eight people, there were very strict rules that they had to abide by.

In Burma, it is the military who determines who shall live and who shall have the right to freedom. This is a direct violation of human rights. Some of the human rights being violated are freedom of speech, freedom of choice, standard of living, no rules of law, right to individual welfare, rationalized food, child labor, forced labor, right to adequate pay, etc etc.
In addition, as a result of the military fixing prices in agricultural, Burma’s monetary system is useless throughout the rest of the world. To capture their profits, Pepsi purchases agricultural products in Burma and sells them to countries abroad where they are then able to transfer the money back to the US. This process is known as countertrading and is morally unjust as most agricultural products are farmed by forced labor. Since I was a small child I have had a dream of working as some type of medical professional. test. I was nervous and terrified that I would fail. After a few weeks I received my GED certificate in the mail. I was so happy to have my diploma in my hands. I was one step closer to making a better life for myself.
After completing my GED I decided that I was going to work for a couple of years then attend college. I worked for quite a few companies but none of them was what I wanted to do with my life. After a lot of thinking and planning I made the choice to go to NIT (National Institute of Technology) and pursue a diploma in Medical Assisting. Within three weeks of starting school I found out that I was expecting my first child. I continued to go to school through my pregnancy, but in my fifth month of school I started having complications with my pregnancy. I finally withdrew from school because of major medical problems. I was terribly disappointed in myself but I had no control over what was happening. My plans were to go back once I gave birth. During the rest of my pregnancy I gave a lot of thought to what a medical assistant does and what she gets paid. I came to the conclusion that I would rather pursue another career so I never did return to NIT.
Another year passed and I decided that I would give college another try. At this time computers were really starting to become popular. So I figured that I could make an excellent living at programming computers. In 16 I started attending The Akron Institute to receive my degree in computer science. Once again within a few weeks I discovered that I was pregnant with my second child. Everything was going great when I started having complications again and was put on strict bed rest. my daughter I discovered I was pregnant again with my third child.
After the birth of my third child I decided to stay at home and raise my three children. In the past six years I have kept all of my dreams and goals in mind. I have not once given up on them. They were just pushed to the back of my mind waiting on the perfect timing. During these past six years I have also done a lot of soul searching. I threw around many ideas that I wanted to do with my life but the one that kept sticking out was Nursing. Since all three of my children are in school full time I decided that it was time for me to go back also.
Once I was sure that we were financially stable enough to return to school I took the first step in obtaining my nursing degree. I called Stark State College and made an appointment to take my entrance test. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I passed everything but the math. It was kind of disappointing but at the same time I told myself that I did much better than I thought I would considering that I’ve been out of high school for twelve years. The next step in my journey was to schedule my classes. This in itself is an ordeal. I had to keep changing the times and days of my classes because things kept over lapping. I finally got a set schedule that I am very happy with.
My classes are not easy at all but I am putting forth a lot of effort in hopes that I will learn everything I need to graduate. I place all of my faith in God that he will help me learn the knowledge and skill I need to become an excellent nurse.

Since I was a small child I have had a dream of working as some type of medical professional. Because of many different life changing events it has taken me many years to begin this wonderful but challenging journey towards obtaining my Nursing Degree.
